Fergie: 'Mother believed I had the devil in me'

Sarah Ferguson has revealed details of the emotional abuse she suffered at the hands of her parents.

In an interview filmed as part of her six-part reality show Finding Sarah, Fergie said she was taunted by her mother.

An emotional Fergie recalled how her mother, believing a vein on her forehead to be a sign of the antichrist, told her: "You've got the sign of the devil. I'm going to beat that devil out!"

Sarah claims she was left feeling "emotionally bankrupt" and "worthless" after years of abuse.

When her mum, Susan Barrantes, walked out on the family Fergie blamed herself.
But each time she would get upset about her parents' break-up, father Major Ron Ferguson would "call me a sheep's ass and tell me I looked like a clown and to grow up and stop being so silly".

Fergie's childhood experiences have left her with self-esteem issues.

During the therapy session with TV psychiatrist Dr Phil McGraw, she said: "I looked in the mirror this morning and went: 'Well, no wonder nobody loves you - you are so disgusting'."

According to the News of the World, the interview forms part of the first episode of the reality show, for which Sarah also underwent hypnotherapy.

Why is it that some celebs think we're interested in every little gory detail of their lives? Maybe it's the impersonal nature of Twitter, maybe they get carried away in the heat of an interview... or maybe they just like the attention...
